At the young age of 20, Rosa Hamersma, born in Amsterdam and grown up in Ibiza, Spain, graduated in Textile Design at the renowned Massana School in Barcelona (2010). Her final project ‘The Mortality Sequence’ was based on the manipulation of velvet and the production involved dying, manipulating, transforming the fabric, printing (by screen and by hand) with various techniques, also embroidery, weaving, knitting, sewing, hand drawing and painting. Endlessly creative, the skills and knowledge Rosa obtained at the Massana School are just the beginning of her pursuit towards a creative career. Her work ethic combined with the desire to learn every day will make her a valuable asset for the design industry. Rosa’s goal is to keep learning, to progress her creative initiative, her ideas and genuine enthusiasm. Not being able to sit still, straight after graduating she moved to London to explore her next adventure and recently completed an internship at the design studio from textile designer Simeon Farrar. Always open to participating in other projects, Rosa is currently discovering London and planning the next step in her promising future.
